and your probably the same people that dont signal when you switch lanes, run lights, roll stops, talk on your phone while driving, text while driving, play your music to loud with the windows down... and all of this with kids in the car.. Nice...some people like to take the focus off of themselves.... hey did you know drag racing was cracked down on in New haven? Yep it stopped them from doing it didn't it. When people in cars start respecting the law then maybe bikers can quite down some...lord knows you dont look for us.. so we make sure you can hear us. tks.

I proudly own and drive a Harley Softtail custom and I agree that most car drivers don't respect bikers' safety as they should. Like "John (Guest)", I see them texting and using cell phones. I've even been driven off the road by one guy who saw me coming less than three car lengths away but decided to turn right on red in front of me anyway!

Yep. Biker safety is a BIGissue for me! I've had enough close calls that I've come to a moment of real clarity. After complaining loud and long about those damned motorists, I've come to understand that if I'm gonna survive as a biker I'm gonna have to take the responsibility on myself by watching out for the other guy.

In other words, it doesn't matter how loud my bike is. I could have the loudest pipes on the planet, but if if I think that's going to keep me safe I'm gonna end up dead.

And that brings me back to discussing the original point of this SeeClickFix – which wasn't about BIKER SAFETY at all but about a different issue: BIKER RUDENESS. This posting has to do with "excessive motorcycle noise post 10:00 PM" on Woodward Ave, which is just a matter of rude behavior.

I have no idea about Woodward Ave, but I DO know the problem is really bad along State Street. And I don't blame the bars! IT'S NOT THE BARS' FAULT: not J.P.Dempsey's, not Christopher Martin's, and not C.O. Jones' even though they're pretty close together and a lot of their customers are bikers. These folks run legitimate businesses and can't be blamed for their some customers' rude behavior after hours. And that's when the problem really starts: after the bars close.

That's what this posting is about: RUDE BEHAVIOR ON THE PART OF A HANDFUL FO BIKERS. Inconsiderate, rude behavior that is "justified" by the claim that a louder bike is a safer bike.

I don't care whether you believe straight pipes make you safer or not. Keep 'em if you think they make you safer -- or even if you just like that loud rumble. That's fine with me. But remember your manners, will you? As this posting says, there's too much motorcycle noise after 10:00PM. Period. And that noise has nothing to do with biker safety. That noise is just plain old-fashioned bad manners.

exactly the point no matter, you can stop them from drag racing you can stop a few rude bikers for making noise past 10 o'clock . It.'s not all of us but we all pay the price. I believe that every driver on the road (automobile) should have to take the motorcycle safety course . By the way. Birds cherp at 45 db. Enjoy. Drive and ride safe. We are all not bad. Just a handful.

Well, let's see how this new "quality of life" issue in Morris Cove is going to work this summer now that the mayor and the police chief have addressed the issue. Time will tell. I predict nothing will change UNLESS there is a patrol car stationed in the Cove and NOT in their coverage area like near Rt. 80 near the East Haven line.

Time will tell. Also interested in seeing how that new permit parking only is going to work out on Lighthouse Rd. I think the people avoiding the park fees will just park on the other streets in the area and continue to walk into Lighthouse.
