So is this a complaint about noise or speed or racing? A noise complaint about someone’s (presumably) inspection passed vehicle is not what the city or this service is designed for... Similarly, if it's speeding or racing - then call the police.

With regard to the noise portion of the original post, note that the fact that a car has passed state inspection has little bearing on violation of a Raleigh ordinance. NC vehicle inspections do not check for excessive noise. It is entirely possible that a car could pass state inspection but still be operated in a manner that violates Raleigh City Code Sec. 12-5007 "Prohibited Noises" and, therefore, appropriate for reporting on this service.

Ok Mr. 5 PP, moderator, are you actually suggesting that the city post noise ordinance police to catch someone driving by your home with a loud vehicle? To then test that vehicles decibel level, then to issue a ticket? Your privilege does not make this an issue worth investigating.

This situation has become more frequent. Also note the tire burnout circles on the pavement in intersections and parking lots all over town.

Raleigh city officials should ask the chief of police to focus on proactive enforcement for illegally-loud motor vehicles. Also, the state DMV should require that authorized vehicle inspectors be required to look for illegal noise-making equipment.

Raleigh citizens can get more involved by reporting motor vehicle noise violations to the police. Finally, motor racing hobbyists should invest in quiet modified performance systems or tow their vehicle to the Wake County Speedway (where it is legal to operate with loud pipes).

BZ, are you a mature and responsible adult?

At 8 pm I saw what I think is same black suv with some age on it with back wheels hiked up driving down street without a license plate. I think it's on Anderson frequently so maybe it's from the neighborhood. I will start calling RPD. I was told that in downtown Raleigh, the RPD is targeting loud motorcycles and automobiles. In some cases, they are confiscating them.
