your logic is really flawed. so, you want us to stop riding bikes and get cars so that there is even MORE competition for the spots you circle our city for, causing unnecessary congestion?

many cyclists also own cars, so your taxes/reg. argument is moot.

i completely agree that this area needs more bike racks, especially since i make several trips a week to shop there, on my bike, and i have noticed this as well. thanks for posting the issue, tamara!

I always have trouble parking my bike there. Sometimes I skip spending a few bucks in the Broadway area because trolling for a free sign to tether to is inconvenient. Shop keepers should jump on this issue.

They should eliminate on-street parking on Broadway. But then, I still think they should ban personal automobiles on every downtown street from Grove to George and from State to Howe. Also move the busses off the Green.

Ban personal vehicles from downtown? I bet if you forced Yale to move that would take care of all your traffic issues.

If you eliminated automobiles and on-street parking, that would make it quite difficult for elderly and disabled folks (who aren't ALL wheelchair users) to get around, as well as for people making large purchases, deliveries, and moving, to load their cars. Or own their cars. I'm an avid cyclist and pedestrian, as well as car owner, so this isn't about having some weird love for the personal automobile.

lol...ban traffic in Down Town? why not just install gates and only give the codes to the locks to the business owners who need to come and go because theyd be the only ones there!

The city of new haven allows free bike parking on all city parking meters which are safer than road sighs which can be easily removed. Also here is a map of all yale owned bike facilities http://to.yale.edu/bike-racks You can also request one through yale. It is wonderful to bike downtown now especially with the edition of a Bike lane on elm street.
