Communter vehicles consistently at 50+ mph at top of Willis St and in 10 yrs never seen police activity despite requests. Contacted Bristol police / traffic division who responded that the department is not staffed adequately to put a presence on the street. But on two occassions, did put a traffic speed display trailer for traffic coming into Bristol. That however, actually had little impact...overall, excessive speed continues and will unless radar is set up intermittantly during prime commuter hours and speeding tickets issued to violators.

Have communicated with Bristol Police / Traffic Division and received assurances that situation would be looked at. In last two months, have observed patrol car presence on street twice but not speed monitoring (radar) but there has been no significant improvement. Current road improvement construction is causing traffic slowdown currently but without active monitoring, expectation should be that the situation will simply re-surface when road improvement work is completed.
For those interested, the Manual on Traffic Control Devices (MUTD) provides the guidlines I understand is used by local traffic control departments to set 'active' speed controls.
