City of Raleigh, this is really becoming unacceptable. I have noticed more and more of these scooters, where you used to see 2 or 3 together on the sidewalk, you are not seeing groups of 6, 7 or more. And I had my own experience last night, 3 riders on Boylan Avenue in the middle of the street at 8pm, it was dark, these have no lights nor reflectors. Someone is going to get killed, it's happened just last week in DC.

They have wheels.

They are not easy to move if they are locked. Especially for an elderly couple. They should never have been parked on the sidewalk blocking people's way to their legally parked vehicle.

Yes, some users park the scooters improperly, just like some drivers park illegally routinely.

Still, I am stunned to see that the complainer cannot see their own illogical idea - that someone taking up about 200 square feet of public space with parking a 4000 pound vehicle is posting a complaint to the city about someone parking a scooter taking 2 square feet and 30 pounds of space,

Your complaint is not on the same scope. Your logic is ridiculous.

The people who are lodging complaints about bird scooters are just looking for a reason to complain about bird scooters. You complain when they're on the sidewalk, and then you complain when they're presumably lined up neatly in the grass median "blocking your car door." They are actually not difficult to move, the wheels do turn when they are locked. What happens if you roll a scooter without unlocking it? The scooter beeps at you. I think even a 70yr old can handle that.

This is a valid complaint and the city needs to take some action on these scooters. Regardless of age, no one should be expected to move scooters so they can access their legally parked car. I have no objection to scooters when used by responsible adults. The problem is irresponsible riders and placement of scooters in inappropriate locations. We need to find a solution to this on-going problem.

I believe we should let the City staff review and then decide what to do with this issue.
