The zelkova in the tree belt in front of 498 Whitney Ave was hit by a car several years ago, and as a result, its trunk is badly damaged, and the tree seems to be deteriorating. Our condo association asked an arborist to look at it, and he advised that the tree is a hazard and should be removed.

Any chance this tree could be removed soon? URI is ready to plant a replacement as soon as it comes down, and we'd like to be able to get the new tree in early this spring.

It has been a couple years since we requested that this tree be removed. Is this on the Parks Department's agenda? We remain ready to coordinate a replacement tree with URI.
