  • 144 Hammers Road Northmead NSW 2152, Australia - Parramatta - North-West

Pit cover located in apex of 180 degree bend with a down hill approach near the end of the SUP. Very slippery when wet and has casued one bicycle fall that I know of. Also has a small lip parallel to direction of travel with potential to cause a fall . Also has potential for a collision between approaching riders dodging the cover. It effectively makes one lane of the SUP dangerous to use. Should have a finish similar to the cover about 20 m up the SUP which is not on a bend and has been finished with a cement slurry.

High risk of causing a fall but consequence likely not severe - cuts and grazes to broken bones..

  • Lot 7020 Old Windsor Road Toongabbie NSW 2146, Australia - Parramatta - North-West
The SUP runs parallel to Old Windsor Road either side of Toonbabbie Creek without any verge or barrier to separate bicycles and traffic, except for a strong steel railing on the road bridge proper. The SUP exiting the road bridge has a steel plate on one side that is slippery when wet. The 180 degree bend exiting the SUP has poor visibility due to inappropirate landscaping (two ?self sown palm trees subject of another report) and is narrow due to mulch encroaching on the SUP. The risk of an accident / incident is high. The consequencs could be severe if a cyclist ended up on the road which has a high traffic density in the morning peak hour and is zoned 80 k/h. A physical barrier (steel fence) should be installed along the SUP either side of the road bridge where there is no separation from Old Windosr Road. This risk has been recognised and managed with a fence about 100 m further west where a new SUP was recentlyu installed perpendicular to the existing SUP and OWR. The fence shoud be of equivalent standard to the one on the existing road bridge due to the potential for impact by vehicles as happend at the next bridge west last year. The steel plate shoud be coated with a non slippery finish and until the fence is erected the SUP shoudl be maintained free of mulch and debris and the palms removed. Cost is high. Not sure if this is a Council or RTA issue. For the record the bitumen patches are flat and level with the concrete pavement.

  • 352 Old Windsor Road Old Toongabbie, New South Wales - Parramatta - North-West
Pothole developing on SUP (the old Old Windsor Road) that runs parallel to Tway and OWR

The SUP exiting the road bridge to the west has a steel plate on one side that is slippery when wet. The SUP exit from the bridge is over a poorly instaled bitumen patch. This location was subject of an initially unguarded sinkhole during construction and the patch has been repatched, so that the finsih is very rough. The risk of an accident / incident is high. The consequencs could be severe if a cyclist ended up on the road which has a high traffic density in the morning peak hour and is zoned 80 k/h. A physical barrier (steel fence) shoudl be installed along the SUP either side of the riad brodge where there is no separation from Old Windosr Road. The fence shoud be of equivalent standard to the one on the existing road bridge due to the potential for impact by vehicles as happend at the next bridge west last year. The steel plate shoud be coated with a non slippery finish. The contractor responsibe for the bitumen patch should be required to install a new flat and flush patch. Not sure if this is a Council or RTA issue.

On the alternative bicycle route to Parramatta. Never noticed it till I went up the left of a queue this morning. Risk of incident / accident possible. Severity conssequence low to moderate - over the bars, so grazes to broken neck. Action requrested: replace with a metal grid. Cost moderate..
  • Lot 7020 Old Windsor Road Toongabbie NSW 2146, Australia - Parramatta - North-West
Two small ?self sown palm trees in apex of 180 degree corner obscure visibility of cyclists on potentially dangerous location. The palm fronds impinge on the SUP and require constant pruming (? by passers by). They also result on spillage of mulch on to the SUP and narrowing of the SUP. Suggest that they be removed. Cost moderate. Crew to cut and dispose. Ongoing maintenance is requried here to move mulch and debris from the edge of the SUP. Removing the palms would reduce the maintenance costs.
  • Winston Hills Nsw 2153 Australia - Parramatta - North-West
