I agree - I live right in the area and no one stops -
A stop sign would greatly improve things.

I do agree Mrs V...however a second lane needs to be added b/c of the backup of traffic on route 35, especially in the am. Adding a stop sign is an answer for those getting to the parkway from route 36, but the traffic needs to be dealt with to avoid the accidents.

The accidents happen because people refuse to yield. Even if you had two lanes these same people who think they don't have to yield would come flying on even faster and move into the left lane to get around the slower moving traffic on the right that turns to go towards the parkway south.

Wouldn't a stop sign cause the traffic to backup to Route 35 in the early morning rush? This would cause accidents as well. People coming up over the hill don't have the "logic" to think traffic would be backed up and slow down b/c of traffic merging with route 36 traffic.

I agree with having a better solution.....

The Parkway Commission should look into moving the entrance off 35 highway to the spur for the parkway further down past the bridge. They shoule redesign it at the time and have a barrier to separate the left lane from the traffice coming on off 35 and another barrier to separate the traffic coming off 35 South Bound from the traffic coming off North Bound heading to the toll booth. Close off Clark Street all together and just leave an entrance for the wrecking service and business's to the right of it. But no traffic allowed to go past the wrecking service. Anyone wanting to get on the Parkway that live on that section of Clark can do so off LLoyd Road.

Hey smokey, stop smoking what ever you're smokin'! Close Clark Street you say, you don't think all that traffic entering the Parkway from Clark street might mind. Also, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (Formerly NJ Highway Authority) doesn't have the power to just shut down and take over a towns roads without the towns input and Keyport might have a problem with killing a couple of businesses that pay taxes on Madison st. (Semcor, the performance shop and the towing service, also JCP&L substation there). oh yeah bridges aren't cheap either.

Hey Luigi, Do you know what emminent domain is? That's where a State or Town steps in, condems property in the name of the public for the good of it. They can do that. Close the 35 entrance. Widen the 36 entrance to two lanes. Build a new bridge up and over the 36 entrance beginning in front of Toms Ford. Put in two new toll boothes, dump the 35 traffic into the new booths, maybe make four new ones to handle the flow and that would cure the problem. It's done all the time. Look at I 95 in the DC area and the improvements they've done there. It works.

A total redesign is the best long term solution. This area is dangerous.
