Description
Reckless, noisy clowns on Quads/ATV's (along with snowmobile's in the winter) have also been riding illegally, plaguing the East Shore section of New Haven for years. Blasting up & down Townsend Ave, tearing up Black Rock Fort area etc.
Advance warning for NHPD; they go crazy, blaring past the Townsend mansion just about EVERY evening after a snow storm, zig zagging & sliding across the centerline towards oncoming traffic, dangerously passing and cutting off cars etc.
We want these uninsured deadly missiles stopped!

Picture #2 of ATV tracks in the Fort Nathan Hale Park bluffs. Note vegetation ripped from soil by spinning knobby tires on the hillside. These scars are permanent and will cause soil erosion etc.
These ATV riders need to stop riding illegally.

No excuses, everyone concerned MUST be there tomorrow, this will be our only chance for public hearing, and the room must be full! Show your support this Tuesday 11/13 @ 6 p.m., all should attend, If not you, and us then who? Tell everyone you know and bring them along if needed--room should be packed, this may be our only chance for this type of City-wide meeting.

"There will be a public hearing on the dirt bike ATV issue Tuesday, 11/13 at 6pm in Board of Aldermen Chambers at City Hall. It's an opportunity for people to express their concerns about the dirt bike issue and for the City to talk about what we plan on doing. Could you all help get the word out?"

To add, like BenNHV said: these grown men's photos are all over the Internet and their faces and actions (where one clearly sees them touting the law) clearly recognizable on YouTube and Instagram.
Should be easy to find for any local authority paying attention.

I am closing dirt bike/ATV complaints that pre-date the conclusion of the police undercover operation (see www.newhavenindependent.org/index.php/archives/entry/9_arrested_in_dirt_bike_sting/). I do not expect the dirt bike/ATV issue to be completely solved, but it will be helpful to policing efforts to distinguish new reports from those before last month's operation. The operation was not a one-off effort to address this issue, and information reported in new issues is helpful.
Please open up new SCF issues as dirt bike/ATV issues re-occur.

Please don't close our issue again. I'll close it when it's actually fixed. By the way has anyone from the NHPD addressed our fellow Cove resident's concerns as expressed in your linked NHI bikelife article?

This is great, but it left me feeling confused. Why, when I called the police department 6 times last month (4 times to 911, twice to 946-6316 as told to by 911) was nothing done in my neighborhood of Morris Cove? I told them there were 3-4 bikers speeding through stop signs on the corner of Hyde and Fort Hale. I told them that there was a little girl on a bicycle who was it harm’s way. I told them I saw the last name of one of the bikers, as he wore it on his jersey while speeding through the streets? is the chain broken (again) between dispatch and police?"

Thanks for reopening the issue Dell C. but no one is "blaming cops."
Mr. Smuts I read what you had to say but you have no right to unilaterally keep closing the issue, again, the taxpayers will close it when it's FIXED?
