Comments: Since last week, Umbria Street continues to be flooded across from the Umbria Golf center.

09-25-2011 - the mud and the water are still there. Must be a high priority for Mayor Nutter, Councilmen Jones and the Streets Department.

10/08/2011 The eastbound bike lane still needs to be cleaned of mud.

10/08/2011 The westbound lane has been cleaned up by a volunteer from the Bike Coalition.

02/18/2012 The mud in the eastbound bike lane, along the golf center, is still there. On the opposite side of the street, where the drainage problem needs to be fixed, a marker had been placed along the bike lane so the Streets Department can find the location. The marker is still there and so is the problem. I guess the Streets Department has been too busy plowing snow.

01/06/2013 While the mud on the westbound bike lane has been cleaned up (by a volunteer, not by the city), it is now covered by vegetation.

01/30/2013 The lane is now passable (thanks to the efforts of a volunteer, not the city). It still needs more work.

03/02/2013 Here's the "after" picture. A long section of the bike lane has been uncovered by a volunteer. No thanks to the city. Unfortunately, much of this section of the bike lane remains covered up, but given the number of motor vehicles that speed on Umbria, it's a dangerous job to uncover it. Could the city consider some traffic calming and fix the dangerous intersection of Umbria and Shawmont Avenues?

03/02/2013 Six old tires had been dumped along Umbria. They were moved to a stack along the bike lane to help the Streets Department locate the bike lane problem. Unbelievably the tires were gone in a few days!

03/31/2013 Here's a picture of the clogged drain that possibly causes the flooding. Now maybe the Street Department can find it and clean things up.

08/31/2013 Vegetation again covers the north-bound bike lane on Umbria across from the golf center. Considering that many motor vehicles on Umbria exceed the speed limit by 20-30 mph, this is extremely dangerous for cyclists. Some traffic calming is needed, starting at Shawmont Avenue all the way to the Ivy Ridge SEPTA stop.

04/03/2014 Mud, debris, and vegetation again cover the west-bound bike lane on Umbria.

04/03/2014 As before, the lane is now temporarily passable (thanks to the efforts of a volunteer, not the city). It still needs more work. Further westbound, the lane essentially disappears as it approaches the dangerous intersection with Shawmont Avenue.

05/11/2014 After last week's rain storms, the bike lane and part of the west-bound lane of Umbria are under water again. Or maybe this is the city’s idea of a free car wash.

05/11/2014 A volunteer, not the city, has come up with a TEMPORARY solution. Maybe the city could come up with a permanent solution before someone gets hurt.
