Description
Speeding - Need Speed Tables/ Bumps on Townley St., - Willard St., - Atwood St., Intersections Lots of Children playing, People walking or crossing street, Cars cannot stop in time. There are accidents all the time a few hit had run auto.
If you can't put in Speed Bumps? Then make it a "three way stop" on Willard St and Townley St. there's a lot of speeding cars coming and going to the Apartments straight across from Townley Street!
And Atwood St and Townley Street cars speeding from one end to the other.
And from the closed end of Willard St, right through the intersection of Willard and Townley to Asylum Ave.
Something has to be done!

One night a vehicle was speeding,
I was waiting for the sound of the crash,
And it did!
It hit the iron fence end of Townley and Atwood streets.
And last summer a woman stopped at the end of Townley & Willard streets stop sign.
And I could hear a speeding vehicle coming and again, I was waiting for the sound of the crash.
It was a hit and run!
The woman was all right, and waiting for the police to come.
We need to have speed bumps at the ends of Townley Street.
The West End has them!

From Those Larger Apartment buildings on Willard St.,Townley Street's.
They having been parking on both sides of Townley & Willard Streets.
So one line to drive in! It's a big mess!
Hartford Police have been doing a Great job towing vehicle away!
But by the next day those people are back again parking on the wrong side of the streets!
Still lots of Children playing, riding there bikes.
People walking to there cars or crossing street, vehicle's speeding cannot stop in time.
There have been accidents, hit and run cars racing from closed end of Willard to Asylum, and the Five PM short cut from Collins to Atwood, over to Townley to Willard to Asylum, bumper to bumper maybe it should be oneway at high traffic times?
Fire department to Willard/ Townley St Apartment buildings.
Fire trucks only have one lane to turn in at times.

Pretty soon the kids will be out of school, and playing, running on the streets playing ball.
Something should be done soon.
If a driver was doing 30 or 50 mph, how long would it take the driver to stop?
We need Speed Tables-Bumps on Townley St., - Willard St., - Atwood St., Intersections.

Issue: # 166140 & #140061 Speeds bumps
Cars speeding from closed end of Willard St to light at Asylum Ave.
I hear them almost daily speeding from the closed end of Willard St to Townley st
Tust waiting for the sound of CRASH?.
And Willard St.& Townley St. Intersection that's where the last hit and run was.
People also use Woodland to Atwood St. to Townley to Willard St, Intersections as a short cut.
After getting out of work.
. ...So you say the road segment is not long enough to install speed bumps?

Roadway segment is to short to warrant speed bump. This case has been closed.

If the city can't put in speed bumps at either end of Townley St.
Then how about putting a 3 way stop on Willard St.
And Townley and at Atwood St. and Townley St

I'll add my vote for the need for speed bumps througout Asylum Hill, especially on streets with problematic parking uissues. Bumps should be installed where needed, not just where the residents are savvy enough to lobby for them.
Three-way stop will not work anywhere, all it will do is cause people to slow down enough to roll through, creating an even more dangerous situation since an unwary pedestrian may drop their guard by assuming the signal might actually be obeyed. Way too many rolling stops through the area, even with the hospital nearby.
