A New Haven Police Officer have been to Hertz buit did not observe cars on the sidewalk. The managers were instructed to keep the cars off the sidewalk and told that they obstruct accessibility for people with disabilities. They will make additional visits.

There was a Red Mustang parked on sidewalk with California plates on it all day Saturday and Sunday over this 5th and 6th of August 2023 weekend at Hertz going to Gateway College couldn't get through with the wheelchair and the construction on the other side of the block there's no sidewalk.

No Access for People with Disabilities.

Hertz is doing it again, blocking sidewalks!!!

Department of Services for Persons with Disabilities assigned this issue to Inspector Public Space Code Enforcement-East Side

It's an ongoing problem and especially with the building across the street being built there is no sidewalk on that side of the street and the only available sidewalk is the one in front of Hertz and the people of Hertz with no regard to public safety keeps parking cars on the sidewalk making it impossible to get through with a wheelchair.

Today in the rain about 7:30 p.m. coming back from the college I tried to go around the car that was parked on the sidewalk as I tried to go around the tires on the wheelchair spun out on the rainy apron in front of Hertz and my knees hit the back of the car that was parked illegally on the sidewalk. This license plate will be filed with the police department and the parking bureau of New Haven in the lawsuit. Hertz is not open and the driver of the car is not there. It could be considered a hit and run after the fact which will probably hold up in court because of the illegality placement of the vehicle. Putting disabled American citizens in harm's Way. Disabled Americans in wheelchairs should not have to an obstacle course around illegally parked vehicles on the sidewalk.

Wow, you had a horrible experience. I hope you're okay. If you're going to file a lawsuit, you might want to submit a FOIA request for the public surveillance footage of that location.

There are several cameras at that intersection, and I'm pretty sure our city and Hertz will be reviewing the footage to ensure your claim is sincere.

Hertz is probably erasing the cameras and God knows the town does nothing with this surveillance but make stupid comments by their public officials that monitors this channel. The photograph is quite evident that an illegal act has been committed by parking that car on the sidewalk, is totally illegal and is subject to fines and accountability of it's actions.
It's probably Tommy's car that's why he's so upset and quick to respond not even 1 hour gone by after I post Tommy's on the defense for the city that clearly doesn't care about the safety of its citizens that's why a court proceeding needs to take place to wake up the city officials. Fighting for the rights of all disabled Americans.
