8pm ams the size had grown to half the block. I just saw a woman brushing her teeth and spreading paper towels across the sidewalk. This is a residential street with families. Plead take action asap.
City of Oakland, this is so completely unacceptable!! The police drove by while the encampment was being moved from Hannah Street. This block of 32nd street is residential and there is criminal activity being transacted on a block with many elderly and young children.
Wow just unbelievable that the homeless are allowed to set up in residential areas. Unacceptable. If they won't live like the rest of us then they don't need to live by people's houses. When they are moved they should have to move out of that area, not around the corner. They do it because they can and know that Ms. McElhaney isn't doing anything about this serious problem. What is the mayor of Oakland doing?
There are 4 kids in this block. Most ride their bikes down to the corner and back. I'm sure once these folks are moved, it will need human waste cleanup to be safe for kids and dogs. Total mess.
Thank you for your request. According to our system, we already have an open service request of this kind at this location. Your request has been combined with service request #586390. 72 hour notice to vacate, plus a stay away order. What is the problem? PW knows exactly where these encampments are. I've never heard Ms McElhaney address any issues of the homeless. There should be a law that the homeless can not set up in any residential area. It's not safe, it's unsanitary, and it brings down neighborhoods.
This specific one - is gone. They have moved to Hannah Street (this pic is on 32nd). Nothing is on 32nd now. Everyone's on Hannah - many tents. Much mess. Who knows what else.
So they just moved right back where they were removed from. Does that make sense? So now another wait for PW to clean them up once again. This system is not working. Seems like the homeless have more rights than the rest of us. Use to feel bad for them, but not anymore, they know exactly what they r doing.
