People from other neighborhoods keep dumping trash behind the corner house and no one is monitoring that, not the owner of the house, not the Passyunk neighborhood association, not the city. It is disgusting.
Hey KeepPhillyClean- the only way the civic association can know about these kinds of problems is for people to make us aware of it. Now that we know, we can ask our street cleaning service to take a special trip out. But in the future, please send concerns to contact@passyunk.org. Thanks.
The Streets Department will no longer provide mechanical cleaning or flushing (street cleaning) to residential cleaning routes. They will continue to provide cleaning for Center City and all of our commercial routes throughout the City.
For more information please call the Philadelphia Streets Department at (215) 686-5560.
You may contact the Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee (PMBC) at (215) 685-3969, a unit in the Streets Department Sanitation Division, that recruits citizens to be block captains and educates them on having organized and maintained clean blocks.
OR
You can also contact the Community Partnership Program (CPP) which operates year round lending supplies to community groups to clean up their neighborhoods. CPP also coordinates with Streets Department Sanitation Division on the removal of the bagged trash once a clean up is completed. All equipment loans are for one week usage. Extended loan periods are available.
