A message came up on my first issue report yesterday stating that it may be months, up to, or over two years before the one City of New Haven Arborist will be able to get to these dead trees. I inquired with the LCI as to whether I was allowed to pay an arborist to come and trim the cracked off branches resting on my Comcast internet wires. They told me absolutely not, or I could get a $10,000 fine. So, I have to live in this purgatory waiting for another branch like the huge one that did smash down on the sidewalk and curb that would have easily taken out a car or a person, and pray that a storm does not come along and wipe out my internet and phone because of the branch resting on the Comcast wires. Comcast just came and a very nice person just said that they are not allowed to cut tree branches. People all over town are worried about neglected city trees. If the tree in front of my house damages life, limb, and property, I will file a major lawsuit against the City of New Haven. I am a senior citizen. If my ability to communicate is impaired by the dead tree I will sue the city. It is unconscionable that there is only one arborist for the entire CIty of New Haven and the CIty will not allow anyone else to remove a hazardous condition. Is anybody else concerned about dead tree limbs hanging over sidewalks and cars? The trees in question are not special trees, they are fully diseased Maples that are horrible looking. I would immediately sign up with URI to replace the dead trees with healthy disease-resistant varieties.
